Vietnam futsal team makes dramatic comeback against Thailand
The Vietnamese futsal team made a dramatic comeback against Thailand, thereby winning first place in Group A at the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
Despite having already qualified for the semi-finals, the Vietnamese futsal team still entered the field with the determination to get 3 points. With a relaxed mentality, Diego Giustozzi's team entered the match with a tit-for-tat attack on the Thai futsal team's goal. However, in a defensive move in the 3rd minute, Pivo Thinh Phat carelessly let the ball touch his foot after a cross from the opponent, causing the ball to change direction and go into the net, helping the home team take the lead.
The unexpected loss forced the Vietnamese futsal team to speed up. In that match, the Thai futsal team had many dangerous attacks. In this match, coach Diego Giustozzi brought goalkeeper Van Tu back to the starting lineup and this "goalkeeper" made excellent saves, helping the Vietnamese futsal team not concede any more goals.

Typically, in the 16th minute, Charoenphong fired a powerful long-range shot but Van Tu flew as far as he could to successfully push the ball away. Defending well, the Vietnamese futsal team organized many dangerous attacks. Many scoring opportunities were created in the first half and in the 12th minute, Diego Giustozzi's students found the equalizer. From Minh Quang's corner kick, Duc Hoa ran across the field to cushion the ball, scoring a goal for the home team. Before that, Duc Hoa missed a good chance, otherwise the score could have been different.
Entering the second half, the match was quite tense with many fierce tackles from both teams. The referee also blew the whistle many times, even using yellow cards to warn players for excessive fouls on the field. Both teams continued to create many opportunities that could have turned into goals towards each other's goal.
Specifically, in the 26th minute, Peerapat fired a dangerous shot and although his vision was blocked, goalkeeper Van Tu managed to block it brilliantly. Two minutes later, the Vietnamese futsal team responded with a "cannon shot" by Thai Huy but unfortunately, the ball bounced off the post. Luck still did not smile on the Vietnamese futsal team when in the 30th minute, due to a mistake by young player Da Hai, he lost the ball on the home field, creating an opportunity for the Thai futsal team to organize an attack and Sosawaeng fired a diagonal shot, raising the score to 2-1 for the home team.

Being pushed into a difficult position, the Vietnamese futsal team attacked again. The pressure that Duc Hoa and his teammates created on the home team's goal was quite large. In a defense of a side kick by the Vietnamese futsal team, goalkeeper Prasansat caught the ball and it bounced right to Cong Vien's position and this player easily tapped the ball into the net to equalize the score 2-2 in the 35th minute.
Just a few dozen seconds later, Da Hai fired a diagonal shot for Cong Vien to approach the goal and tap the ball in, putting the Vietnamese futsal team ahead 3-2. In the final minutes, the Thai team played power-play but were powerless against the defense system of the Vietnamese futsal team. In the end, the Vietnamese futsal team won a thrilling 3-2 victory.
The semi-final match between Vietnam futsal team and Australia will take place at 3:00 p.m. on November 8.
