Vietnam Olympic Team and the fear of "trying to make a sound, but it fails"

There are too many lessons from the past for coach Miura to mentally prepare his players to compete well in the main tournament after a series of impressive friendly matches.

The 1-0 victory over the Indonesian Olympic Team on the evening of March 9 was the last friendly match of the Vietnamese Olympic Team in Hanoi before Coach Miura and his team moved to Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong to continue training and playing friendly matches before going to Bangkok and then Malaysia to participate in the qualifying round of the 2016 U23 Asian Cup.

After more than 2 weeks of training, it can be seen that with the very young faces in this training session, the Vietnam Olympic Team is expected to be able to complete the set goal of winning 2nd place in Group I, thereby waiting for the opportunity to advance to the final round of the U23 Asian Cup next year.

Defeating V-League representative Hanoi T&T with a score of 3-1 at Hang Day Stadium and then overcoming Olympic Indonesia thanks to Huy Toan's only goal at the "fire pit" My Dinh, Coach Miura and his team are showing very impressive performance despite only having had more than 2 weeks of training.

Winning but still can not be assured because the worry of "trying to make a sound, burning a hole" always haunts the Vietnam National Team and youth teams like the Vietnam Olympic Team when having impressive friendly results but playing below their ability when entering the main tournament. Those unforgettable lessons will certainly make the Japanese strategist pay attention and prepare the best spirit for his students.

Remember, in the preparation for the AFF Cup 2012, coach Phan Thanh Hung and his team had an impressive start, with consecutive victories, notably defeating Malaysia with a score of 2-0 in the first leg and 1-0 in the second leg. However, entering the tournament, the Vietnamese team could not win a single match and had to return home early from the group stage.

Next was the poor performance of the Vietnam national team in the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers under coach Hoang Van Phuc, despite impressive victories against Qatar and the country's strongest team, Al Arabi Club, the most disappointing of which was against Hong Kong (China).

Also in 2013, the Vietnam U23 team under the leadership of Mr. Phuc went through a series of 10 unbeaten friendly matches with 8 wins and 2 draws, the best achievement in history, but was shamefully eliminated right from the group stage at the 27th SEA Games.

HLV Miura còn rất nhiều việc phải làm để nỗi lo

Interestingly, when coach Henrique Calisto led the Vietnamese national team to prepare for the 2008 AFF Cup campaign, they went through 11 matches with only draws and losses, but were convincingly crowned champions of the regional tournament after a historic victory over Thailand in the two-legged final.

Coach Miura himself also played impressively with the Vietnamese national team in a series of friendly matches before the 2014 AFF Cup, but only advanced to the semi-finals of the main tournament after a "shocking" 2-4 loss to Malaysia in the rematch at My Dinh Stadium.

After two practice and friendly matches with Hanoi T&T Club and the Indonesian Olympic Team, Coach Miura himself was still not completely satisfied with his players’ performance. He admitted that there were still many adjustments that needed to be made so that the Vietnamese Olympic Team could perform at their best in the 2016 U23 Asian qualifiers.

According to the plan, Coach Miura and his team will have a friendly match in Ho Chi Minh City against the Uzbekistan Olympic team at Thong Nhat Stadium, before moving to Binh Duong. Next, they will move to Bangkok to play a friendly match with the Thailand U23 team. This will be an opportunity for the Japanese strategist to perfect the squad and tactics for his students before entering the official tournament.

On March 23, the Vietnam Olympic team will go to Malaysia to prepare for the opening match against the host team in the 2016 U23 Asian qualifiers, taking place at 7:45 p.m. on March 27./.
