Vietnam national football team training in Japan: Strengthening strength, building endurance

September 30, 2014 09:25

On September 29, the Vietnam national football team began to increase the amount of training to improve their physical strength. Under the guidance of fitness coach Fujimoto Heroo, the players are embarking on a journey that is considered the foundation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014.

The 8 players who just finished competing at the 17th Asian Games, namely Buu Ngoc, Minh Tuan, Hoang Thinh, Hong Quan, Huy Hung, Huy Toan, Duy Khanh and Ngoc Hai, will be given a break before heading to Japan to join the team on October 4. With the current number of 22 players, the Vietnam national team has entered the process of improving their physical strength as well as practicing tactics.

During this training session, the Vietnamese team has fitness coach Fujimoto Heroo and before starting training, this 34-year-old coach surveyed the players' fitness and health status to propose a reasonable training plan for the 20-day training session in Japan.

During the gathering at the end of August, the Vietnam national team had a number of injured players, namely Van Hoan, Tien Thanh, Van Long and Xuan Thanh, but when they went to Japan, all of the above players had fully recovered and were able to practice with their teammates. Knowing that the workload would be increased during this trip to Japan, most of the Vietnam national team players practiced at home to avoid being "shocked" by the coaching staff's training program. Defender Van Hoan shared: "I suffered a thigh injury and could not play in the Vietnam national team - Hong Kong national team match on September 6, but after being treated by the doctor, I fully recovered. Taking advantage of the break at home, I practiced physical training to prepare carefully, otherwise it would be difficult to keep up with the coaches' training program."

Currently, the weather in Osaka (where the Vietnam national team is based) is hot and sunny, but in yesterday afternoon's training session, the players were very excited about the physical training program of assistant coach Fujimoto Heroo. The coaching staff deployed a number of exercises to increase strength and endurance for the players for more than 1 hour. Midfielder Thanh Luong shared: "Coach Toshiya Miura and physical trainer Fujimoto Heroo cooperated very well when the whole team not only trained physically but we also combined exercises with the ball to increase flexibility."

Today, the Vietnam national team continues to focus on physical training combined with tactical exercises to best prepare for the friendly matches in Japan.

The preparation machine for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 has been activated and with a methodical plan through a nearly 1-month training trip in Japan, the Vietnam National Team is actively training for the important tournament. "AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 is a tough tournament, to play well, physical fitness is the key to success!", midfielder Thanh Luong affirmed.
