(Baonghean.vn) -The approaching flood season has put more and more worry on the people of Pat village (Chau Tien commune) and Quan village (Lien Hop commune) of Quy Hop district. The streams and creeks are so peaceful, but when the flood season comes, they become "death scythes" that submerge all houses, fields and gardens and threaten the lives of many people here.
That is the reality that for many years, ethnic people living in Muong Hat and Muong Nghinh areas in Chau Tien and Lien Hop communes, Quy Hop district have had to endure. Because people often build their houses right at the foot of the mountain, close to the stream, just one heavy rain, with water pouring from Chau Hong and Chau Tien, dozens of households in the two villages above were flooded, leaving dozens of households here unable to react. All the houses, fields and gardens became a deserted place.
In that situation, in 2011, Quy Hop district approved the Emergency Investment Project to evacuate people from the disaster and landslide areas in Chau Tien and Lien Hop communes with a total capital of 36,134 billion VND. That is the wish of 42 households in Pat village, Chau Tien commune and 31 households in Quan village, Lien Hop commune. However, after more than 2 years, the progress of construction of the resettlement area is very slow. Due to lack of budget, since the beginning of the year, the contractor has stopped construction, only stopping at the leveling stage, while the total number of items that need to be implemented include: Leveling, internal traffic, electricity, water, cultural house, sports field...
Below are some photos taken at two resettlement areas in Quan village (Lien Hop) and Pat village (Chau Tien):

Mr. Vi Van Ly - Head of Quan village said that currently 31 households in the village are preparing to store food in high and dry places to prevent water from rising. |
