Good forecasting to proactively fight against smuggling and trade fraud
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of September 20, the Legal Committee of the Provincial People's Council continued to monitor the fight against smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud at Nghe An Customs Department.

According to the report of Nghe An Customs Department, the situation of smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud in the province is becoming more and more complicated and sophisticated, requiring the management capacity of the Customs sector, the mechanism to create a legal corridor from the State, investment in facilities, equipment, and staff. Performing the function of preventing and combating smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud, in recent times, Nghe An Customs Department has paid attention to propaganda work, increased coordination with competent agencies in detecting and handling related cases.
As a result, in the 3 years 2011 - 2013, 216 cases of smuggling, illegal transportation of goods across the border (cars, electronics, fireworks, forest products), buying, selling, storing narcotics, and administrative violations were arrested and handled. In particular, sophisticated smuggling acts through electronic customs declaration; tax exemption mechanism and fraud through declaration of tax exchange rates, declaration of goods value, quantity of goods..., were detected by the Customs Department in 22 violating enterprises with a fine of nearly 5.4 billion VND. In 2013 alone, although only 3 enterprises were detected, the value was large with nearly 4.4 billion VND in fines.
At the meeting, the monitoring delegation clarified the results of the fight against smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud, which accurately reflected the current reality; the role and effectiveness of the authorities in this work to what extent? Difficulties and obstacles; causes and solutions in the fight against smuggling, counterfeit goods and trade fraud of the Customs sector. The monitoring delegation suggested that the Customs Department should pay attention to forecasting the situation to be proactive in fighting and preventing effectively. Focus on propagating to businesses, organizations to comply with the law and people in border and coastal areas not to assist or participate in smuggling. There are solutions to advise and propose to the People's Council to strengthen the fight against smuggling.
