Japanese international students get back lost property after quarantine

(Baonghean.vn) - Returning home after 14 days of mandatory medical quarantine, international student in Japan Nguyen Ngoc Quang was shocked to know that his backpack left in the trunk of a taxi had fallen out.

On the afternoon of April 6, Captain Nguyen Tien Vinh - Deputy Head of the Team for Building the National Security Protection Movement (BVANTQ) of Nghi Loc District Police said: Working Group No. 3 of Nghi Loc District Police has just verified and returned property to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, born in 1986, residing in Tan Nghia hamlet, Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district.

At 3:00 p.m. the same day, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Nam and Lieutenant Nguyen Van Phuc of Working Group No. 3 of the National Security Movement Building Team (Nghi Loc District Police) were patrolling to ensure security and order on Provincial Road 536 in Hamlet 11, Nghi Xa Commune, Nghi Loc District when they discovered a blue backpack on the side of the road.

During the inspection, the working group discovered some clothes, personal belongings and 2 wallets inside the backpack. Inside the wallets were 100,000 Japanese Yen (more than 20 million VND) and 2 million VND along with some other identification papers in the name of Nguyen Ngoc Quang, born in 1986, address: Tan Nghia hamlet, Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district.

Immediately after receiving the information, the leaders of Nghi Loc District Police directed to verify the identity and contact the person named in the above documents, inviting them to the unit's headquarters to receive the lost property.

Presenting the incident to the officers of the National Defense and Security Movement Building Team of Nghi Loc District Police, Mr. Quang said: I am an international student in Yokohama, Japan. On March 22, I returned to Vietnam to avoid the Covid-19 epidemic and was quarantined at the 568th Infantry Regiment, Base 1, Dong Phong Commune, Dong Hung District, Thai Binh Province.

After receiving a certificate confirming the end of the centralized quarantine period, on the morning of April 6, Mr. Quang took a taxi home to Hamlet 3 (formerly Tan Nghia Hamlet), Nghi Xuan Commune, Nghi Loc District.

When he got home, he was shocked to see that the taxi trunk lid had been blown open, and his backpack containing his documents, personal belongings, and money was gone.

After receiving his property back, he wrote a letter expressing his deep gratitude to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Nam, Lieutenant Nguyen Van Phuc in particular, Nghi Loc District Police, and Nghe An Provincial Police in general for their dedication to the people.
