Chinese tourists cancel tours en masse
Since China illegally placed an oil rig in the East Sea, tours from travel agencies taking tourists from China to Vietnam have been canceled en masse.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province said on June 19 that in the first four months of the year, more than 34,000 Chinese tourists visited Mui Ne (Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan), accounting for 17% of international visitors and ranking second after Russia.
However, since the incident of China illegally placing an oil rig in the East Sea, tours from travel agencies bringing tourists from China have been canceled en masse. In the 4-star resort Saigon-Mui Ne alone, in April and May, the amount of room fees that travel agencies and Chinese tourists canceled immediately on online booking sites reached 70,000 USD.
According to the Binh Thuan Tourism Association, after this incident, resorts must restructure their customer sources. Specifically, they must develop strategies, build prices and tourism products to attract domestic customers.
