It is expected that Nghe An will have 16 National Assembly deputies for the 16th term, 2026 - 2031 term.
The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued a Resolution on the expected number, structure, and composition of National Assembly deputies for the 16th term, 2026 - 2031.

Accordingly, the total number of delegates to the 16th National Assembly is 500 people. The expected structure includes 217 delegates from central agencies, accounting for 43.4% and 283 delegates from localities, accounting for 56.6%.
The allocation of the number of National Assembly deputies is carried out according to the principle: Each province and city has at least 4 deputies residing and working in the locality. The number of subsequent deputies is calculated according to the population and characteristics of each locality, ensuring that the total number of National Assembly deputies expected to be elected is 500 deputies.
The National Assembly Standing Committee stipulates the principle for the expected allocation of the number of Central delegates to run for local election corresponding to the size of the delegation: Delegations with 7 to 10 delegates will have 3 to 4 Central delegates; delegations with 11 to 15 delegates will have 5 to 6 Central delegates; delegations with 16 to 17 delegates will have 7 to 8 Central delegates; delegations with 18 to 19 delegates will have 8 to 9 Central delegates; delegations with 21 delegates will have 9 to 10 Central delegates and delegations with 32 to 38 delegates will have 15 to 17 Central delegates.
According to this Resolution, Nghe An province is expected to be allocated 16 delegates to the 16th National Assembly. Of these, 7 delegates will be introduced by central agencies and organizations; 9 delegates will be introduced by local agencies and organizations.
Compared to the XV term, the 2021-2026 term, the number of National Assembly deputies of Nghe An will increase by 3 people. At the beginning of the XV National Assembly term, the Nghe An delegation had 13 deputies, including 6 deputies working at central agencies and 7 deputies residing and working in Nghe An.
However, by August 2023, delegate Dang Xuan Phuong transferred to the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ninh province, so currently the Nghe An delegation has 12 delegates, including 6 delegates working at central agencies and 6 delegates residing and working in Nghe An.
Determining the number, structure and composition of National Assembly deputies is an important step in preparation for the election of the 16th National Assembly. This is also the basis for localities to proactively develop plans, prepare personnel, organize consultations, introduce candidates, and ensure compliance with procedures, standards and structures as prescribed by law.
Previously, on May 21, 2025, at the 9th Session, the 15th National Assembly voted to pass a Resolution on the election date of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. According to this Resolution, the national election date is set for Sunday, March 15, 2026.
On November 7, 2025, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee issued Directive No. 01-CT/TU on leading the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The Directive emphasizes that this is an important political event to continue building, consolidating and perfecting the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, for the people.
Selecting and electing exemplary people with sufficient qualities, capacity and prestige to represent the will, aspirations and mastery of the people in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in the new term is a key task of the entire Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An province.
