Blood type O reserves are running low, Institute of Hematology calls for blood donations urgently

A piece of information that those who wish to donate blood to save lives should pay attention to. The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion said that the blood type O at the Institute is at an alarming level of scarcity, with only enough left until January 7.

Specifically, the reserve of blood type O is only nearly 1,300 units, while every day, this Institute has to supply 700 units of blood type O to hospitals in Hanoi and the northern provinces. The two main reasons leading to this scarcity are that blood type O is the blood type with a high proportion in the community, about 45% of the Vietnamese population belongs to this blood type. Therefore, the demand for blood is also higher than other blood types. In addition, blood type O is the type that can be transfused to replace all other blood types.

The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion calls on individuals, organizations and especially those with blood type O, who are in good health, to donate blood to save patients. Blood donation time is from 8am to 6pm, every day of the week.
