Making Vietnamese rice a leading brand in the world
The Prime Minister has just approved the Project on developing Vietnamese rice brand until 2020, with a vision to 2030. Accordingly, by 2030, Vietnamese rice will become the world's leading brand in terms of quality and food safety.
Striving to achieve 50% of exported rice output bearing Vietnamese brand
The general objective of the above Project is to build a Vietnamese rice brand to position the value and image of Vietnamese rice products, raise awareness of domestic and foreign producers, importers, distributors and consumers of Vietnamese rice products, create a basis for consolidating and developing the market, increasing the added value, market share and competitiveness of Vietnamese rice products in the world market.

The project strives to promote and introduce the image of Vietnamese rice widely in the country and to at least 20 export markets by 2020; the national rice brand is protected by intellectual property rights in the form of a certification mark in Vietnam and at least 50 countries; strives to achieve 20% of exported rice output bearing the Vietnamese rice brand.
By 2030, rice export production areas will be stable, efficient and sustainable, making Vietnamese rice a world-leading brand in terms of quality and food safety; striving to achieve 50% of exported rice output bearing the Vietnamese rice brand, of which 30% of total exported rice output will be fragrant rice and specialty rice.
Developing regional, local and enterprise brands
To achieve the above objectives, the Project will enhance the image and brand value of Vietnamese rice; develop the national rice brand; develop regional and local rice brands; develop business brands and rice product brands...
Specifically, the Project will organize synchronous activities to promote and introduce the image of Vietnamese rice brand to businesses and consumers in domestic and international markets through many activities; promote localities, organizations and businesses to build and develop regional and local rice brands and business brands, rice products that meet national rice brand criteria.
Support businesses to use national rice brands
At the same time, develop policies to support businesses in using national rice brands in building raw material areas, linking value chains, improving seed quality, supporting technology, quality management, building rice product quality standards; building and developing regional and local rice brands for specialty rice products and local varieties, in line with the national rice brand orientation.
Prioritize the selection of 3 specialty varieties in the Mekong Delta region to support the construction and development of regional and local rice brands towards becoming national rice brands.
