Bringing Vietnam-China trade turnover to 60 billion USD in 2015
This is a goal agreed upon at the 8th Session of the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
At the invitation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, a delegation of the Chinese Government led by Mr. Tran Kien, Deputy Minister of Trade, visited Vietnam and attended the 8th Meeting of the Vietnam - China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee held in Hanoi on April 22, 2013.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Cam Tu and Deputy Minister Tran Kien signed the minutes of the 8th meeting of the Vietnam - China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
At the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on the economic situation of each country, reviewed the development of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides since the 7th meeting, and exchanged views on issues of trade cooperation, industrial cooperation and some cooperation in other fields, aiming to further promote economic and trade relations between the two countries in the coming time.
The two sides were pleased to note that since the 7th Session of the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee, Vietnam-China trade relations have made remarkable progress. Two-way trade turnover between the two countries in 2012 reached over 41 billion USD, China continues to be Vietnam's largest trade partner; Vietnam is also one of China's important trade partners in ASEAN countries.
At the meeting, the two sides reached common understanding in areas of mutual interest such as: exchanging measures to realize the goal set by the leaders of the two countries to increase bilateral trade turnover to 60 billion USD by 2015, narrowing the trade deficit with China and improving border trade between the two countries; cooperation issues to promote progress and ensure the quality of projects with Chinese enterprises as EPC general contractors; preferential credits that China provides for infrastructure construction projects and transportation in Vietnam...
The two sides affirmed that they will continue to strengthen closer cooperation between ministries and branches to remove difficulties, contributing to the effective implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the coming time.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides signed the Minutes of the 8th Meeting of the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee. At the same time, on this occasion, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Nguyen Cam Tu and Deputy Minister of Commerce of China Tran Kien officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation in the field of agricultural product trade between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Commerce of China. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to further promoting bilateral cooperation and creating favorable conditions for businesses and organizations in the same industry of the two countries to carry out agricultural product trade activities.
