Putting into use a model of reproductive health care

On March 1, the Vietnam Midwives Association in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Organization for Family Planning (JOICFP) inaugurated the Reproductive Health Consultation and Service Center.

The center is built on a 3,000 m2 campus at Lot C1, Thuy Thanh commune planning area (Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien-Hue). The total investment capital for the center is 300,000 USD (nearly 7 billion VND). This is one of the activities within the framework of the project "Establishing a model of women's reproductive health care and enhancing the capacity of midwives at the grassroots level" sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The center is the first model in Vietnam of the project for providing comprehensive, quality and customer-friendly reproductive health services. Services provided at the center include: prenatal care; postpartum care; normal delivery; gynecological examination and ultrasound; family planning consultation and services; postpartum breast care; menopause consultation; adolescent consultation....

The center is fully equipped with modern obstetric equipment such as ultrasound machines, electrocardiogram machines, monitors... with delivery rooms, ultrasound rooms, prenatal care rooms, postpartum care rooms, consulting rooms, laboratories, family planning rooms...

In addition to providing reproductive health services, the center is also a training facility for obstetricians and midwives at the provincial and grassroots levels through coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health of Thua Thien-Hue province to organize training courses.
