The agreement was signed between Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha and Ms. Jutta Frasch, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam on October 11. This is considered Germany's biggest commitment to date within the framework of Financial Cooperation with Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha said that of the 272 million euros, the German government committed to providing Vietnam with 22 million euros in ODA loans, 5 million euros in non-refundable aid, and 245 million euros in development loans to implement development cooperation programs and projects.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Hans-Jurgen Beerfeltz, State Secretary of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, welcomed Vietnam's efforts in implementing the green growth strategy.

“Green economy for me means an equal focus on the three areas of sustainability. Only the combination of economic performance, social equity and environmentally compatible development can ensure sustainable development as its name suggests,” said Hans-Jurgen Beerfeltz.

This agreement is the international public law basis for finance for the implementation of seven German-Vietnamese development cooperation projects and was committed by the German Government within the framework of the German-Vietnamese Government negotiations in 2010 and 2011 in Hanoi. To date, Germany remains one of the most important bilateral donors to Vietnam./.
