Germany overtook South American giants Brazil and Argentina to reclaim the top spot, which was no surprise after their impressive performance in Russia, where Joachim Low's men went all the way to the Confederations Cup title.

European champions Portugal finished third in the Confederations Cup, but still moved up four places to fourth. Behind them are two surprise entrants, Switzerland and Poland, who also moved up four places like Portugal.

Another surprise is that Chile still dropped three places to seventh, despite reaching the Confederations Cup final. The South American champions are joined by the final three teams in the top 10: Colombia, France and Belgium.

Spain dropped one place and fell out of the top 10, ranking 11th. Following Spain are Italy (12th), England (13th), Mexico (16th) and Uruguay (17th).

Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, Vietnam dropped two places to 133rd. Vietnam ranked third in the region after the Philippines (126) and Thailand (131).
