Stop circulating 10,000 and 20,000 VND cotton money since 2013

The State Bank of Vietnam has just announced the suspension of circulation of cotton money of 10,000 VND and 20,000 VND.

Announcement No. 293/TB-NHNN dated September 28 stated that, implementing Decision No. 1285/QD-TTg dated September 17, 2012 of the Prime Minister, the State Bank announced that from January 1, 2013, the 10,000 VND and 20,000 VND cotton coins will no longer be valid for circulation in Vietnam.

From the date of suspension of circulation (January 1, 2013), organizations and individuals holding these currencies can exchange at the same value for the currencies in circulation issued by the State Bank at the State Bank Transaction Office, State Bank branches, credit institutions, foreign bank branches and State Treasuries in provinces and cities.
