Moisturizing the skin is no longer a strange thing for many women, but do you know how to properly moisturize your skin?

Sensitive skin

Dermatologists advise that people with sensitive skin should stick to basic products, such as petroleum jelly or Vaseline - products that never go out of style.

Even natural fruits can cause skin allergies, especially those that are latex like cucumber and aloe vera, acidic like apple, lemon or hairy like kiwi.

Don’t just trust the “Hypoallergenic” claims on product packaging. You know your skin, so before you buy, test the moisturizer on the inside of your forearm to see if your skin reacts.

Buy products that say “fragrance-free” or “unscented” on the packaging, as they don’t contain fragrances – the main ingredient that causes allergies.

Oily skin

Oil-based products like petroleum and mineral oil are not good choices for your face.

Cleanser-Treatment-Moisturizer, that's the order of skin care products you should use twice daily.

Moisturizers applied last will reduce the dryness, redness, and irritation caused by the skin treatment product. They also reduce oil production while providing extra moisture to soften the skin.

Apply cream correctly: Apply moisturizer to your cheeks first, by gently swiping your fingertips onto your skin (not in circular motions).

Use a light, liquid moisturizer (not a cream) during the day. Choose one with added AHAs to combat oil and acne.

However, AHA has the ability to attract sunlight, so you need to use additional sunscreen that is also liquid and light.

Dry skin

Choose a gentle, low-foaming cleanser. Foaming cleansers can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving your face drier.

Every two weeks, our skin will be renewed. This process in people with dry skin occurs more often, because the dry skin cells peel off faster than other skin types. You should exfoliate 1-2 times/week to remove this dry layer, helping moisturizer penetrate the new skin more easily.

However, the exfoliation process is also the moment when you are stripping away the oil layer that protects your skin. Therefore, along with the exfoliation process, you need to continuously replenish moisture to protect your skin.

Exfoliating products containing olive oil, honey or egg extracts have the effect of softening the skin, adding oil and nutrients and are suitable suggestions for dry skin.

Look for a moisturizer that also contains sunscreen. Sunlight dries out the skin, making it more prone to wrinkles and age spots. SPF 15 or higher is recommended for normal use.
