Coach Joachim Loew's team unexpectedly lost 0-2 to Poland in a match in Group D. This was also the first time the German team lost to this team after 19 matches.
In the match that took place early this morning, despite the absence of many key players, the German team still put a lot of pressure on Poland. However, the strikers that Loew trusted were not able to score a single goal against Wojciech Szczesny.
Meanwhile, Poland took advantage of the attacking situations to score. In the 51st minute, from a quick counter-attack on the right wing, Lukasz Piszczek, in an open position, crossed the ball for Arkadiusz Milik to head past Neuer, opening the score 1-0.
In the 88th minute, Robert Lewandowski passed the ball back to Sebastian Mila who ran up and fired a shot past goalkeeper Neuer, sealing a 2-0 victory for Poland.
With this historic victory, Poland has risen to the top of Group D with 6 points after two wins, equal on points with the Republic of Ireland but with a better goal difference.
