One-way streets and urban civilization

(Baonghean) - Dinh Cong Trang and Ngu Hai streets (Vinh City) are piloting one-way streets. It is worth mentioning that many people still deliberately violate the law when there is no police presence.

Tại điểm giao nhau đường Lê Mao và Ngư Hải, cán bộ, chiến sỹ Cảnh sát giao thông TP Vinh đã túc trực và nhắc nhở người dân đi đúng quy định đường một chiều.
At the intersection of Le Mao and Ngu Hai streets, Vinh City Traffic Police officers and soldiers were on duty and reminded people to follow one-way street regulations.

Having suffered from traffic jams on Dinh Cong Trang Street many times, I was extremely happy when Vinh City proposed a pilot project to create one-way traffic on Dinh Cong Trang and Ngu Hai Streets.

And surely there are many city residents who often travel on this route as excited as me.

As expected, the traffic diversion has greatly reduced congestion on Dinh Cong Trang Street, especially during rush hour.

During the first days of the pilot traffic diversion, traffic police enthusiastically stood at the forefront of each route to guide traffic participants to follow the rules.

The authorities hung a large banner at the entrance to the one-way street as a reminder. The mass media and social networks also actively promoted this traffic diversion. Because everyone knows that, although the city has long been a first-class urban area, the civilized urban lifestyle is still the same as the rice-growing era.

As predicted by the authorities, many people did not pay attention to the signs and went the wrong way out of habit, causing traffic police to have a hard time in the first days of the pilot traffic control.

What is more noteworthy is that many people clearly saw the instruction banner, clearly saw the sign and knew about the one-way street regulations, but whenever there was no traffic police at the beginning of the roads, they deliberately went in the opposite direction.

Doing so not only endangers yourself and others, but also prevents the formation of traffic culture and urban civilization.

It is known that to have urban civilization requires a very long construction process, which contains both cultural and economic and technical factors, but it can be said that obeying traffic laws is a simple and minimal task to contribute to building traffic culture and urban civilization.

Everyone wants to live in a civilized and cultural environment, everyone wants their city to be a "livable" city, but just to save a little time, a short distance, many people are willing to violate traffic safety regulations, willing to destroy the urban civilization that is gradually being formed in this city. It is clear that urban civilization is not easy to build!
