Tran Trung Quang Street: Sediment-rich street
(Baonghean) - Hearing the street name, many people find it strange, but when they have the chance to pass by, they can truly feel the breath of the city from a street with a long history in the suburbs rich in the spirit of Vinh City. That is Tran Trung Quang Street...
The road stretches from the Coi Market - Le Viet Thuat intersection to the intersection with Tran Khanh Du Street, which is probably more than a kilometer long. Located in Hung Loc Commune - a land rich in historical and revolutionary traditions. Walking on the road, you can feel the imprint of time and easily be lost in the emotions of the past and present. Isn't Hung Loc an ancient land? Before, the whole Loc Da - Duc Thinh area had uprising and revolutionary movements that were famous in the region. Looking deeper into that spirit, we must mention the golden pages of history recording the name of the Tran Dynasty King - Tran Quy Khoang, also known as Trung Quang De. The spaciousness of the road named after the patriotic king, who valued chivalry and was rich in martial spirit, somehow evokes a deep feeling for those who understand history. History records that King Trung Quang De had the determination to restore the country but was powerless to fight against the Ming army under the reign of Minh Thanh To Chu De, who was more warlike than the later kings Nhan Tong and Tuyen Tong (during the Lam Son uprising) and the most talented general of China at that time, Truong Phu. Like Hau Ly Nam De, Khuc Thua My, Ho Quy Ly and his son, and Retired Emperor Gian Dinh De, King Trung Quang fell into the enemy's hands. He jumped into the Lam River and committed suicide. He was the only king in Vietnamese history who chose a heroic death after failing to fight against foreign invaders. His death showed the Ming that even though they conquered Dai Ngu, they could not subdue the Vietnamese. Currently, the tomb and temple of King Tran Quy Khoang still exist in Hung Loc, a short distance from Tran Trung Quang Street. The street has impressive turns. At the beginning of the street from Le Viet Thuat Street, the busy and solemn working style of the office with diligent civil servants at the People's Committee - People's Council headquarters, the medical station, the chirping of children right next to the kindergarten and secondary school; going a little further, the people of the street suddenly calm down with the mark of the martyrs' memorial, it seems that this land and the people here will never forget the gratitude to the ancestors, the gratitude for the days of the rumbling army, red torches of hatred, to win for today's generation the blue sky of peace...

A stretch of Tran Trung Quang street. |
It is said that the road has been there for hundreds of years. Counting the past few decades, it is now a mark of changes, upgrading the appearance to match the general urban development and the traffic and trade needs of the people. Before, there was a narrow path covered with green grass, dense bamboo and the two sides of the road were filled with small fields and fields. Now, that scene still lingers through the rows of bamboo although they have retreated deep into the alleys of the houses, the rows of wild flowers and bushes, and the new spaciousness of the street has overwhelmed everything. Passing the office, school, and houses on the road, there is the hustle and bustle of trucks, dump trucks... carrying goods to the small industrial park of Hung Loc. The industrial park was formed nearly ten years ago, bringing with it economic excitement to this quiet land. Many children of farmers in production teams along Tran Trung Quang Street have become workers for establishments and companies in the industrial park, partly solving the burden of employment and income for a part of the youth, in the context of increasingly narrowing production land. And another reason, that small industrial park, although it cannot avoid noise about environmental and landscape issues, from a certain perspective, is also a mark on this street, this land, raising the prosperity of the suburban area in the integration period.
The end of Tran Trung Quang Street is a vast, rural atmosphere, an indelible testament to the past when rice fields were closely tied to the livelihood of many people here. Now, although life is somewhat better off, many families have children working abroad, working far away, but those who stay still do not leave the rice industry. Along both sides of the road, there are easily 20 hectares of rice fields of the people of Team 4 and Team 8. The team is now a grassroots unit, along with hamlets and villages in other localities, originating from the history of agricultural production teams in the past. The people here said that this Hung Loc land is originally sandy soil, with steep terrain. Many years ago, people cultivated this vast field like terraced fields. In the dry season, the land was dry and cracked because of the dry Lao wind and the terrain did not retain water. After many renovations, leveling, and extension of the agricultural culvert, people now feel secure in cultivating, although they can only grow rice once in the winter-spring season. As for the summer-autumn crop, they can grow it one year and fail the next, due to the unpredictable threat of small floods from the Lam River... Only then can we know that good land still tests people's patience.
Walking on the street, I also secretly praise the artistic vision of many photographers, when looking at the romantic beauty of this ancient land. Soaring past the rice fields, there are endless rows of royal poinciana trees, their branches leaning lovingly against each other, rustling with tiny waves carried by the wind. More and more couples choose this as a place to take wedding photos, many young people come to "make" souvenir photos of their picnics. When we look at the streets with such gentle eyes, the beauty and familiarity are multiplied. Tran Trung Quang Street - a street with many fates and memories, "pulling" people in the street closer in feeling with such simple things.

King Tran Trung Quang was the second king of the Later Tran Dynasty in Vietnamese history, his real name was Tran Quy Khoang or Tran Quy Khoach. He was born in the capital Thang Long, Hanoi. The reign of Emperor Trung Quang was the period of resistance against the Ming Dynasty after the Dai Ngu country of the Ho Dynasty was invaded. In the year Quy Ty (1413), when Truong Phu's army arrived in Nghe An, the father and son of the Later Tran Dynasty's Grand Tutor Phan Quy Huu and Phan Quy Lien surrendered, revealing all the inside story and hiding place of the Tran King. Therefore, Truong Phu decided to enter Hoa Chau despite Moc Thanh's dissuasion. In September of that year, Truong Phu's army entered Thuan Hoa. The Tran army led by Dang Dung boarded Truong Phu's boat and intended to capture him alive. But because he did not know his face, Truong Phu jumped into the river and escaped in a small boat. Later, knowing that the Tran army was very small, Truong Phu mobilized a large force to attack. Dang Dung could not resist and had to flee. After that defeat, King Trung Quang and the Tran generals had to hide in the forest and were all captured and taken back to China. On the way, King Trung Quang Tran Quy Khoang and general Dang Dung jumped into the sea and committed suicide. The Later Tran Dynasty existed for 7 years. |
