Undersea fiber optic cable broken, Vietnam Internet affected from July 12
After the AAG maintenance was completed, it was the turn of the Asia-Pacific cable (connecting Vietnam with Hong Kong and the US) to be broken.
Viettel said that this cable line was broken since June 27, the same time AAG had a problem, but Lien A was only repaired on July 12. The broken cable location is 45km from the Singapore landing station.
Specifically, the Inter-Asia route will be out of service from July 12 to July 19 for repairs. During this time, international connections will still mainly be via the AAG route and some land systems.

There are currently three Internet providers operating the Inter-Asia route, including Viettel, CMC and FPT. Of these, Viettel is the most affected due to the highest traffic volume. This network provider said it has temporarily transferred traffic from Inter-Asia to AAG to continue serving and maintain connection quality.
This network operator will add a total of 160Gbps of traffic to backup routes through China, AAG, and Hong Kong during the repair period of the Pan-Asia cable.
The remaining Internet providers mainly use the AAG and landline cables, so they are not affected much when Lien A has problems.
The Pan-Asia cable line officially came into operation on November 6, 2009, connecting Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan with a total length of 6,800km.
