Maintain and develop friendly and cooperative relations with the Russian Federation

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of November 1, the Russian diplomatic delegation led by Mr. Andrey G. Kovtun - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam had a working session at the People's Committee of Nghe An province within the framework of the visit and working session on the friendly and cooperative relationship between Nghe An province and Ulianov - Russia. Welcoming and working with the delegation were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Having established cooperative relations since the 80s of the 20th century and temporarily suspended due to political upheavals, the two provinces of Nghe An and Ulianop resumed their friendly relations in 2006 during a visit and working session of the high-ranking delegation of Nghe An in Ulianop province - the hometown of leader VILenin. In 2007, the high-ranking delegation of Ulianop province visited Nghe An, attended the inauguration ceremony of VILenin Avenue and the Lenin and October Revolution Exhibition Hall (Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum). On this occasion, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of economy - trade, tourism, culture, sports, etc. In 2011, Ulianop province invited architects of Nghe An province to attend the ARKHDECANT-2011 Conference with the theme "Architecture of Ho Chi Minh Avenue in Ulianop".

In 2012, Mr. SIMORODOP - Mayor of Ulianop city expressed his desire to establish friendly and cooperative relations with Vinh city, Nghe An; invited the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee to visit the city. In 2014, a high-ranking delegation of Nghe An province visited and worked with Ulianop on the construction of the Square and the erection of a statue of President Ho Chi Minh here, expected to be completed on the occasion of Vietnam's National Day, September 2, 2015. The two sides also agreed to establish a relationship between the two cities.

Thus, after many fluctuations, the friendly relationship between the two provinces, extended within the framework of the 65-year Vietnam-Russia relationship, has basically achieved certain common achievements. On the premise of this good relationship, Nghe An province hopes that the Ambassador will be a bridge between Nghe An province and Russian businesses and investors in the fields of industry, agriculture, culture - education, infrastructure business and services, etc. With new movements on the basis of this long-standing friendship, it is hoped that the friendship and cooperation between the two provinces in particular and the two countries in general will be increasingly tightened, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries.

In response, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia Andrey G. Kovtun highlighted the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam. Stemming from proud shared history, this relationship has proven its durability through many political, historical, economic and social changes. The Ambassador is completely optimistic and believes that the relationship between the two countries and the two provinces will develop to new heights, when the Agreement on the free trade area between Vietnam and the Eurasian Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan) completes negotiations in the near future.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc expressed the deep gratitude of the people of Nghe An province to the people of Russia in general and the people of Ulyanov province in particular for their historical gestures of help and cooperation. That friendly and cooperative relationship is still and will continue in the future, not only in terms of economy and trade but also connecting people in culture and education. Maintaining and further developing that connection is the concern of the leaders of both sides, which is also the meaning of this working visit to Nghe An province.
