Before the Lunar New Year 2013, in Quy Chau district, there were consecutive cases of motorbike thefts, causing insecurity among the people. After receiving information from the people, the Social Order Crime Investigation Team of Quy Chau District Police asked for the opinion of the Head of the Investigation Police Agency to establish a special project to combat motorbike theft. Immediately after that, the project coded 912X was established. At that time, Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung, the officer in charge of reconnaissance, was trusted by the Project Board to be the Deputy Head of the Board, along with experienced investigators and detectives.
Through screening the subjects, the detectives identified a number of suspicious subjects related to the case, especially a number of subjects from outside the area who regularly interacted with bad subjects. Through the assignment process, the detectives monitored all movements of the subjects, thereby clearly understanding the relationships related to previous thefts in Yen Thanh and Dien Chau districts that frequently appeared in Quy Chau area.
On the afternoon of March 6, at a tea shop in Chau Binh commune, under the direction of Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung and secret detectives closely following, they captured two subjects, Le Van Huong (born in 1990) and Le Chi Thanh (born in 1990), with evidence including 2 motorbikes, 2 lock-breaking clamps, 2 cell phones, 2 fake license plates, 2 wallets with nearly 15 million VND.
Recently, in March 2015, through the work of grasping the situation in the area, there was a group of subjects who regularly organized gambling in the acacia forest. They chose deserted locations in the forests, far from residential areas, with dangerous roads, and arranged for people to look out to avoid detection. With the above methods and tricks, it was difficult for the detectives to approach the scene and grasp information about the location. Assessing that the case would be prolonged and complicated, directly affecting the security situation in the area, through professional measures, Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung directly advised the unit's leaders to establish Project 315B to focus on the fight. Assigned by the Head of the Project, he himself did not mind the difficulties, spending time day and night to carefully study the movements of the subjects in the project to have effective measures to fight. In a short time, the Task Force that he directly participated in successfully discovered and arrested 16 subjects while organizing gambling in the form of dice shaking, confiscating over 40 million VND at the gambling table along with many related exhibits. The Task Force clarified that the leader of this group was Tran Thi Cong (born in 1962), residing in Chau Binh commune, to continue expanding the investigation.
Over 7 years of working, Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung has participated in many cases, in any assigned work, he always focuses and devotes all his efforts to complete the task. Commenting on his staff, Colonel Mai Hong Ha, Head of Quy Chau District Police said: Enthusiastic and passionate about solving cases, Comrade Hung is one of the young detectives with great potential for the unit. In each individual case, he has made certain contributions, helping the investigation agency quickly clarify the case, contributing to ensuring security and order in the area. In recognition of Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung's achievements, for many consecutive years, he has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial Police Director for his outstanding achievements in the fight against crime; he was honored by the unit's collective and elected as an Emulation Fighter in 2014.
In mid-August, we met again with the young detective - Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung when he and his teammates had just successfully solved the case of "Human trafficking", successfully rescuing a victim in Chau Hoan commune. The tired, exhausted look after many sleepless nights was clearly visible on his face, but he still happily told stories about "solving cases" enthusiastically. It seemed that for Hung, he was born to do the job he had chosen, so there were many "thorny" serious crimes that he had the chance to participate in.
Senior Lieutenant Ngo Minh Hung shared: “The work of a criminal police officer always faces danger, requiring us police officers to have a strong will and know how to overcome challenges. The important thing is that each of us always receives the trust and love of the ethnic minorities in the highlands. It is the trust and love of the people in the villages that is the source of encouragement for us to be dedicated to our profession, thanks to which every step of me and my teammates on the way to perform our duties is like an urge and call from the village and the people. That is the strength that helps us overcome difficulties to complete many tasks entrusted by the unit.”
