Kim Jong-un's sister holds senior government position
On November 27, North Korean media reported that leader Kim Jong-un's sister had been appointed to a senior leadership position in the government.
According to KCNA news agency, 27-year-old Kim Yo-jong has just been appointed as Vice Chairwoman of a department under the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. This is the first time the DPRK media has clearly stated Kim's position.

Ms. Kim is also the only member of Kim Jong-un's family currently holding an official position in the DPRK government. Mr. Kim Jong-un's aunt, Kim Kyong-hui, once held important positions in the Party and the Pyongyang government, but the press has not mentioned her since her husband Jang Song-thaek was executed.
The Wall Street Journal quoted Professor Lim Jae-cheol of Korea University in Seoul, an expert on the DPRK, as saying that it is possible that Kim Yo-jong also holds other important positions in the government.
Kim first appeared in North Korean media in March when she and her brother inspected a polling station in Pyongyang. At that time, KCNA only gave her name but did not disclose her position. Intelligence sources said Kim had studied in Switzerland like her brother./.
