In a statement released the same day, the European Commission (EC) stated that the EU has planned to provide 25 million euros in subsidies to more than 5,000 unemployed people in 7 member countries, including Austria, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Romania, Finland and Sweden.
However, the EU could not implement this plan because the EU Council meeting at the level of economic and finance ministers to discuss the EU budget broke down because the European Parliament's (EP) budget committee boycotted the meeting. The main reason was that European leaders disagreed on contributing more funds to a series of European aid programs.
Previously, the EC called on EU member countries to contribute an additional 8.9 billion euros to the EU budget this year to ensure funding for a series of European programs, including the program to support small and medium-sized enterprises, the large-scale student support program...
However, EU member states that are key contributors to the bloc's budget have advised the EC to "learn to live within its means"./.
