EU provides 114 million euros in aid to Vietnam's health sector

Ms. Delphine Malard, Charge d'Affaires of the European Union (EU) Delegation, said that the organization has agreed to provide an additional 114 million euros to Vietnam's health sector until 2017.

At the second National Forum on Hospital Quality Management which opened on the morning of December 18 in Hanoi, Ms. Delphine Malard said that the EU affirmed its long-term commitment to the health sector in Vietnam.

By supporting the national forums in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the health sector in general, the European Union is committed to supporting Vietnam in its efforts to modernise health care delivery. Through this, the EU aims to help patients, especially the poor and near-poor, have equitable access to quality health services, not only in hospitals but also in commune health stations.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested the health sector to review policy mechanisms to limit negative factors, overcome hospital overload, innovate hospital management methods, and make information on medical service prices transparent.

Regarding pharmaceutical work, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested that the health sector needs to implement synchronous measures so that each patient can receive the best medical services at the lowest cost and have access to good quality medicines./.
