The world's two leading social networks Facebook and Twitter have "joined hands" with many international news agencies in an effort to prevent misinformation and improve the quality of news on social networks.

The alliance, called First Draft News, announced that about 20 news agencies and newspapers will join the network to share information about journalism practices in the information technology age.

Jenni Sargent, managing director of First Draft, said the partnership network will help advance the goal of improving news on the internet, especially on social media.

Ms. Sargent's official announcement stated that censorship of information in the information technology age is very difficult when almost everyone can create and post news on the Internet.

This is not a problem that can be solved by a single effort. First Draft will help develop “a common moderation platform,” as well as a voluntary code of conduct for online news.

The partners are committed to sharing information, developing policies and training on how to use social media to find information and practice journalism.

The announcement comes as social networks, especially Facebook, increasingly play a large role in transmitting mass news on the Internet, leading to concerns about the spread of unverified, inaccurate and misleading information.

First Draft was founded in 2015 and has partnered with YouTube to moderate videos on the world's largest video sharing site.

This partnership network includes big names in the technology industry such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and many international press agencies such as The New York Times, Washington Post, BuzzFeed and CNN of the US; ABC News of Australia; AFP, France Info and Le Monde's Les Decodeurs of France; The Telegraph and International Business Times of the UK, Eurovision News Exchange and Al Jazeera Media Network.

In addition, there is the participation of international organizations including Amnesty International, European Journalism Center, American Press Institute, International Fact-Checking Network./.
