FBI identifies IS element who beheaded two American journalists
On September 25, Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) James Comey said the US believes it has identified the masked Islamic State (IS) group member who murdered two American journalists in beheading videos.

IS has sparked global outrage after releasing two videos showing a man with a British accent killing James Foley and then Steven Sotloff, freelance journalists kidnapped in Syria.
On September 2, the US government confirmed that the video of IS forces executing journalist Steven Sotloff was real.
"The US intelligence community has analyzed recently released video showing US citizen Steven Sotloff and has concluded that the video is authentic," said US National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden.
Previously, the organization specializing in monitoring Islamic websites SITE, IS on September 2 released a video showing a masked militant beheading a second American journalist and threatening to kill a British hostage.
The video shows 31-year-old freelance journalist Steven Sotloff wearing an orange jumpsuit and kneeling in the desert. Sotloff appears calm and tells the camera that he is a victim of President Obama's decision to intensify airstrikes against jihadists in Iraq.
