Vietnamese Food Culture Festival 2014
To introduce and celebrate the essence of Vietnamese culinary culture and the creative talent of the Vietnamese people in the art of cooking.To showcase traditional Vietnamese dishes, from July 1-6, 2014, Expo International Trade Joint Stock Company of Ho Chi Minh City will cooperate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province to organize the "Vietnamese Culinary Culture Festival 2014" in Nha Trang city.
The festival's opening ceremony will be vibrant with street parades along the main roads near the festival area; a reenactment of the story of offering sticky rice cakes to Hung Vuong; performances by children's drums, puppet shows, circus acts, and a music and dance program praising the homeland and the diligence and creativity in culinary arts of the people of the three regions.

Many other unique activities are also organized within the framework of the festival, such as the Vietnamese Cuisine of the Three Regions competition; a beer promotion day, a beer festival; a traditional and modern food market; a gathering of regional specialties... Among them, the Vietnamese Cuisine of the Three Regions competition is a contest between professional chefs who are knowledgeable about Vietnamese culture and cuisine and are working in hotels, restaurants, and culinary schools both domestically and internationally. This is an opportunity for chefs to exchange ideas, learn, hone their skills, and promote the traditional values and essence of Vietnamese cuisine.
In addition, units licensed to produce and trade beer and spirits nationwide will participate in the Beer Promotion Day and Beer Festival to promote their products and brands to consumers, attracting the attention and enjoyment of a large number of visitors.
The traditional and modern food market, themed "Flavors of Vietnam," recreates the atmosphere of a traditional rural market with stalls selling fruits and traditional dishes alongside modern stalls serving fast food and fresh produce from famous brands. Here, visitors have the opportunity to sample and purchase various types of cakes (banh tet, banh gai, grilled cassava and corn, banh tam bi, banh khot, banh beo), various types of sweet soups, homemade candies and jams, fruits, and beverages…
At the regional specialties gathering, visitors will witness unique performances by chefs from renowned centers, hotels, and restaurants across the country. Many typical dishes from different regions will also be on display, such as: La Vong fish cake, vermicelli with meatballs, jellied meat, mung bean cake... (Northern Vietnam); Hue beef noodle soup, Nha Trang fish noodle soup, Quang noodles, Tam Ky chicken rice... (Central Vietnam); pork knuckle noodle soup, Sa Dec rice noodles, savory pancakes... (Southern Vietnam); grilled chicken with chili and salt, sour bamboo shoots with ginger, charcoal-grilled catfish, forest fish hotpot… (Central Highlands); grilled moss, men men (corn porridge), khau nhuc (braised pork belly), rice balls wrapped in co leaves… (Northwestern Highlands).
In addition, the festival also features illuminated flower streets with the theme "Lotus Fragrance"; fashion shows; performances of traditional arts and culture from various regions; folk games, and more.
The 2014 Vietnamese Culinary Culture Festival was held in a vibrant atmosphere, preparing to welcome the "Nha Trang Summer Tourism - Sea Rendezvous 2014" season. This was an opportunity for businesses, artisans, and renowned chefs to exchange and learn from each other about the art of preparing unique and traditional dishes from all over the country; it was also a chance to introduce local people and tourists to the characteristic dishes of each region, thereby promoting and showcasing the strengths of Vietnamese culinary culture.
