Flappy Bird came in at number three, with Lenta.ru calling it “the rise and fall of Flappy Bird.”
The newspaper commented that Flappy Bird attracted players from the beginning with its “excruciating” difficulty level, but “what is interesting is that Flappy Bird became globally famous right after its virtual ‘death’.”
Following Flappy Bird are the events: Uber's online taxi service scandal, Ice Bucket Challenge, Alibaba's miracle, North Korean hackers attacking Sony's network...
Previously, the famous website in the field of game development Gamasutra ranked Ha Dong, the father of Flappy Bird, in the list of top 10 game developers in 2014. Gamasutra is a website founded in 1997, focusing on all aspects of game development.
Ha Dong entered and ranked 7th on Gamasutra’s list, obviously thanks to the influence of Flappy Bird, but there’s more to it than that. According to the site, simple game structure, retro vibes, and brutal difficulty have been integral to the indie game development community since its inception.
Gamasutra sees Flappy Bird as a reminder that a change in game development thinking is needed. It also fuels conversations about the frustration and pain of difficult games, as well as the dark side of “participatory culture” (a concept that refers to people actively participating in all aspects of social life), among other issues.
In addition to Gamasutra, Ha Dong also appeared in the list of 7 most notable mobile games and developers of the year by gamezebo.com.
Accordingly, Ha Dong's Flappy Bird has been put on par with games like Super Evil Megacorp and Hipster Whale. And Ha Dong himself is on par with Beavl Games studio that created Kapsula; Little Worlds Interactive studio with Counting Kingdom; Mi-clos studio with Space Disoder and developer Vitaliy Zlotskiy, who created Pair Solitaire./
