Ford Edge - new hope for SUV line

The Edge is a globally oriented SUV that the American automaker uses to increase the choice for European customers.

European customers are known to be picky and have their own tastes, but now they are starting from sedans to high-chassis models like the general trend in the world. Previously, Ford only had the Kuga, then the EcoSport, but the EcoSport was not successful. Now the American car company brings the Edge to the old continent.

Appearing at the Frankfurt Motor Show is not the first time the Edge has been introduced to European customers, before that the car went to the Paris Motor Show last year but there was not much information. The SUV has a global design, with the general shape commonly seen on current Ford models.

The engine on the Edge in Europe is the Duratorq TDCi Diesel diesel, with the top-end version having a capacity of 207 horsepower, maximum torque of 450 Nm, 6-speed automatic transmission.

Notable technologies include Cross Traffic Alert, which uses radars mounted on the sides and rear of the vehicle to assist the driver when parking, and inflatable rear seatbelts. Ford has not yet revealed the price of the new SUV.

In Ford's product hierarchy, if Ecosport is a small SUV developed from Fiesta, Kuga from Focus, then Edge is built from Mondeo.
