Ford Explorer, hot product with recall error
Ford has just announced a recall of a series of 2015-2017 pickup trucks and SUVs in North America; including the Explorer model that is "hot" in Vietnam.
Specifically, Ford launched two separate recalls. The first involved 551 2015-2017 F-150 pickup trucks and 2017 F-250 to F-550 pickup trucks with exterior door handle covers from a dealer accessory supplier.
The company said the door handle covers can detach during use and do not meet federal safety standards. The solution is for the company’s technicians to remove the covers and the owner will be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and labor.

The second recall involves nearly 2,500 F-150, Explorer, and Super Duty vehicles, due to improper welding between the driver’s seat back and the manual seat recliner mechanism. This defect could cause the vehicle to fail to restrain the occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Ford said there have been no reported accidents or injuries related to this defect.
Dealers will inspect F-150s built at the Dearborn plant between December 11 and 16, 2016, F-150s built at the Kansas City plant between December 8 and 9, 2016, Explorers built in Chicago between December 9 and 10, 2016, Super Duty vehicles built in Kentucky between December 19, 2016 and January 19, 2017, and Super Duty vehicles built in Ohio between December 23, 2016 and January 19, 2017, and will replace the driver seat back frame if necessary.
Currently, the Explorer model is being imported entirely from the US by Ford Vietnam. Dan Tri will contact the company regarding the above vehicle recall information.
