This invention was completed by the Institute of Technology Research, FPT University (FPT Corporation) and the patent application was filed in November 2011. In the same year, 301 patent applications were filed nationwide.
“System for recognizing the state of fingers moving and pressing in a limited virtual space” is an invention in the field of user interface and computers, referring to a device that supports users to interact and control computers and machines connected to the Internet (smart TV, smartphone, ATM, etc.), through finger movements in a space in front of the device, instead of having to use a remote control or physical keyboard as it is today.
Mr. Tran The Trung - Director of FPT Technology Research Institute, FPT University - said: The invention helps users interact with smart devices more conveniently and quickly. The operation when using without contact with the device also helps reduce the risk of spreading disease through skin contact, when the device is shared by many people. Especially in public devices, such as serving interaction with the screen of an ATM.

Patent granted to FPT University.
In the past two years, the National Office of Intellectual Property has granted only five patents to universities nationwide. The first patent granted by FPT University (under FPT Corporation) is one of 25 patents submitted to the National Office of Intellectual Property by the FPT University Institute of Technology.
It is expected that in 2014, FPT University's Institute of Technology will continue to submit 18 more patents, and also expects to continue to have more patents officially granted intellectual property rights.
It is known that FPT Corporation allocates a budget equal to 5% of pre-tax profit for research and development (R&D). In 2013 alone, FPT approved R&D projects of its member units with a total budget of nearly 50 billion VND.
