Right from the beginning of the hot season, the functional forces in Dien Chau district have been on guard day and night, blocking the "fire" right at the forest entrance (the checkpoints controlling people entering the forest) with high determination to protect the green forest from extreme weather developments.

The authorities of Dien Doai commune clearly communicated and explained to the people about setting up checkpoints to limit people from entering the forest to prevent the risk of forest fires, thereby gaining the people's consensus and strict compliance. Photo: Van Truong

According to Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong - Chairman of Dien Doai Commune People's Committee, the whole commune currently has nearly 500 hectares of forest, of which 181 hectares are pine forests, which are easily flammable during the hot season. Worryingly, in some forest areas, people still have the habit of bringing fire into the forest to hunt bees, posing a great risk of causing fires. Faced with this situation, the commune government has arranged control posts in key areas and required all people entering and leaving the forest to seriously declare their personal information, in order to ensure effective forest fire prevention and control. In addition to setting up checkpoints at the forest gates, Dien Doai commune leaders also coordinate with functional forces to regularly inspect forest fire prevention and control work in many forest areas in the area, in order to promptly detect and handle possible situations. Photo: Van Truong

In order to be proactive in forest fire prevention and control, from May 6, the working group "Inspecting the implementation of forest fire prevention and control plans in key districts with pine forests" of the Forest Protection Department, led by Mr. Pham Duc Thanh - Deputy Head of the Forest Protection Department, was present in Dien Chau district to inspect the actual situation at 6 checkpoints for people entering the forest, directing and urging the implementation of urgent measures on forest fire prevention and control in the locality. Mr. Tran Ngoc Quyen - Deputy Head of Dien Chau Forest Protection Department said that Dien Chau district currently has more than 4,000 hectares of pine forest. In order to limit the risk of forest fires, the local government has set up 6 checkpoints at the forest gates, including 2 checkpoints in Dien Phu commune, 1 checkpoint in Dien Doai commune, 1 checkpoint in Minh Chau commune, 1 checkpoint in Dien Loi commune and 1 checkpoint in Dien Lam commune. All people entering and leaving the forest area must declare personal information such as full name, address, phone number and reason for entering the forest, which are fully recorded by the authorities at the checkpoints. Thanks to strict control right from the forest gate, for many years, Dien Chau district has had almost no major forest fires.
