Nearly 1,200 students drop out of school due to economic difficulties

According to statistics, the number of students who had to drop out of school due to their inability to pay tuition and ensure a minimum living standard was 1,163 (556 university students and 607 college students), accounting for about 0.12% of the total number of students of the schools that reported.
In the 2010-2011 school year, a total of 46 students passed the entrance exams to universities and colleges but did not attend school due to economic difficulties; mainly concentrated in the provinces of Dak Lak, Vinh Phuc, Ha Giang, Kon Tum, Hau Giang...
According to the Prime Minister's direction, no student will have to drop out of school due to the inability to pay tuition fees and ensure a minimum living standard. The Ministry of Education and Training has been implementing solutions to overcome the situation of students dropping out of school such as requiring public disclosure of tuition fees when announcing enrollment, keeping tuition fees stable throughout the entire course, allowing students to defer tuition fees or pay monthly tuition fees, supporting students with boarding accommodation, signing confirmation papers and creating the most favorable conditions for students to complete loan procedures from the Policy Bank or enjoy support policies from the State.
The Ministry of Education and Training has also issued a document requesting the People's Committees of provinces and cities to strengthen management and provide support for students living abroad, encourage landlords not to increase housing prices, not to arbitrarily increase electricity and water prices, review and count the number of students with economic difficulties who are at risk of dropping out of school to have support solutions for each specific case.
