Nearly 15 hectares of rice infected with blast disease

(Baonghean) In the spring crop of 2012, the whole province planted more than 86,000 hectares of rice, currently the rice is in the tillering to intensive tillering period. However, in favorable weather conditions, rice blast disease has occurred and damaged the varieties BC15, Khai Phong 1, Xi23, IR1820... in the districts of Tan Ky, Anh Son, Nghi Loc, Vinh City, Hung Nguyen and Con Cuong.

The whole province currently has 14.7 hectares infected, of which 2.1 hectares are severely infected, the disease rate is common at 2-5%, in some places up to 15-20% of leaves are damaged. Currently, localities are actively organizing disease prevention.

In addition, brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers have also appeared and caused damage to some rice areas during the tillering period with scattered density.
