(Baonghean.vn) - In 2019, Nghe An received about 2,000 applications for labor export to Korea. However, due to the situation of workers fleeing to work illegally after their contracts expired, the Korean side announced a temporary suspension of receiving them.

Previously, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs issued Official Dispatch No. 1684/LĐTBXH-QLLĐNN officially announcing that 40 districts across the country were temporarily suspended, of which Nghe An had 9 districts (including: Nghi Loc, Cua Lo, Nam Dan, Vinh City, Hung Nguyen, Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Do Luong).

In recent times, the district has tried to inform relatives of workers working in Korea so that they can encourage their children to return home after their labor contracts expire, so that they can be considered for repatriation. However, because the locality has the second highest number of exported workers in the province; Korean employers also have a cover-up phenomenon, the rate of illegal residence of workers after their contracts expire remains high.

Although the opportunity to find jobs in Korea is temporarily closed for the above 9 districts, there are still opportunities for workers in the remaining districts, especially the 4 poor districts and coastal communes (Quynh Loc - Hoang Mai Town and Quynh Long - Quynh Luu).

According to the employment permit program for foreign workers signed by Korea with the Vietnamese Government, these localities are still accepted by the Vietnamese side to work in agriculture, fisheries and high-quality labor.

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the province, 2017 was the year Nghe An had the most runaway workers, with 2,300 workers causing 18 districts and towns to temporarily stop receiving them. In 2018, 11 districts and towns were temporarily stopped; in 2019, 9 districts and towns were temporarily stopped. Currently, the number of runaway workers has decreased and is being mobilized to further decrease.
