Nearly 20 provinces and cities let students take Saturday off after Circular 29
After Circular 29 regulating extra teaching and learning took effect, many localities piloted the model of allowing middle and high school students to take Saturdays off before expanding it to the general public.
Since March 10, Ninh Giang district has become the first district in Hai Duong province to let middle school students take Saturday off. This decision was consulted by the district education department, polled by public opinion, and received high consensus from teachers and parents.
In Hai Phong, after Circular 29 took effect, all schools stopped teaching extra classes, some schools applied new timetables and let students take Saturdays off every week.
Not only Hai Duong and Hai Phong, previously, a series of schools in Khanh Hoa, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Yen Bai... gave students a day off on Saturday.
Meanwhile, localities such as Bac Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau... plan to let students pilot studying 5 sessions per week, with Saturday off in the near future.
Lao Cai province - the first locality in the country to apply 5-day/week schooling after 5 years of piloting has officially decided to apply 5-day/week schooling for secondary school students. According to the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, giving students and teachers 2 days off on weekends has brought many good results. Teachers have the opportunity to improve their professional qualifications; students can participate in experiential activities, extracurricular activities and practice life skills, and develop comprehensively.
