(Baonghean.vn) - In response to the "Bright Eyes for the Elderly" campaign launched by the Central Association of the Elderly of Vietnam, on the afternoon of July 22nd, Nghe An Eye Hospital, in coordination with the Association of the Elderly of Quynh Luu district and Quynh Long commune, organized a communication conference and eye examination and consultation for nearly 200 elderly members and residents of Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu district).

Doctors from Nghe An Eye Hospital examine elderly people in Quynh Long commune.

Here, doctors and medical staff shared knowledge about common eye diseases affecting the elderly, through interviews with specific cases to advise on how to protect the eyes of the general public and the elderly. They also guided people through the necessary procedures for those with eye diseases, especially elderly people from impoverished households without health insurance cards, instructing them to contact the Nghe An Eye Hospital directly to receive support from the Trachoma Treatment Project in Vietnam.

After screening and health care consultation, each elderly person who came for examination received free medication. This is a practical activity that helps members of the Elderly Association and the public, especially those with eye-related diseases, learn how to care for and protect their eyes, while also reducing the rate of blindness in the community.
