Nearly 200 billion VND to support social security work in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 18, on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2021), the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a meeting program to express gratitude to volunteer groups and philanthropists who have made many contributions to social security work in Nghe An.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; members of the Provincial Party Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Thai Thi An Chung - Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, and representatives of provincial departments and branches.

In recent times, social security work, supporting the poor and those facing difficulties due to natural disasters and epidemics in Nghe An has always received attention, response and active participation from all levels, sectors, agencies, units, organizations, enterprises, etc. Especially the silent, very responsible and extremely meaningful contributions of volunteer groups and philanthropists inside and outside the province; thereby contributing significantly to the Party Committees and authorities at all levels to gradually and successfully carry out the tasks of socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

According to data from the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, as of November 1, 2021, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations have connected with 180 groups (more than 78,000 members) to carry out volunteer activities. Through incomplete summaries of the Fatherland Front at all levels and member organizations, in the past 5 years, volunteer groups and philanthropists have supported many volunteer programs in the province with a total value of nearly 200 billion VND.

Organizations, volunteer groups, and philanthropists have actively called for support to build 18 bridges, 17 schools, school sites, and boarding houses for students with more than 100 rooms; supported the construction of more than 150 Great Solidarity houses for poor households, in addition to supporting tens of billions of VND to help thousands of poor households improve their livelihoods, provide medical treatment, Tet gifts, and support learning facilities for students, etc.

In particular, in the past 2 years, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, volunteers and benefactors have also actively supported and called for and mobilized funds to support frontline forces and people in difficulty. These practical charitable activities contribute to spreading the spirit of solidarity and mutual love, helping the disadvantaged and disadvantaged people to rise up in life.

On this occasion, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 15 collectives and 5 individuals, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 29 collectives and 29 individuals for their many contributions to social security work in the province./.
