More than 230 billion VND to support social security work in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 19, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a meeting to express gratitude to volunteer groups and philanthropists who have made many contributions to social security work in Nghe An in the period of 2021 - 2023.
Attending the ceremony were comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Le Hong Vinh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ngoc Kim Nam - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Pham Trong Hoang - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Thai Thi An Chung - Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, and representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

In recent years, social security work, supporting the poor, people in difficulty due to natural disasters, epidemics, and serious incidents in Nghe An province has always received attention, response, and active participation from all levels, sectors, agencies, units, organizations, and enterprises; especially the silent, very responsible, and extremely meaningful contributions of volunteer groups and kind-hearted individuals inside and outside the province. Those meaningful activities have contributed significantly to the Party Committees and authorities at all levels gradually and successfully implementing the tasks of economic and social development and poverty reduction in the province.

According to data from the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, from 2021 to present, the Fatherland Front (FF) and its member organizations have connected with 182 groups (more than 5,300 members) to carry out volunteer activities. Through incomplete synthesis of the FF at all levels and member organizations, from 2021 to 2023, volunteer groups and generous individuals have supported many volunteer programs with a total value of over 230 billion VND.
From the money that organizations, volunteer groups, and philanthropists have actively called for, they have supported the construction of 14 bridges, 32 schools, school sites, and boarding houses for students with more than 100 rooms; especially in 2023, they joined hands with the Party Committee and the government of Nghe An province to support the construction of 300 Great Solidarity houses, worth 15 billion VND; in addition, tens of billions of VND have been supported to help thousands of poor households improve their livelihoods, treat illnesses, give Tet gifts, and support learning facilities for students, etc.

In particular, in the work of supporting people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters caused by storms and floods, volunteer groups and philanthropists have not been afraid of hardship and danger, actively participating in relief for people in areas affected by natural disasters and floods; helping people to soon stabilize their lives.

Speaking at the program, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee acknowledged and praised the noble acts and noble hearts of volunteer groups and philanthropists inside and outside the province who have helped the people of Nghe An province in the past time. The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that Nghe An still has more than 66,600 poor households, of which 20,400 are in extremely difficult circumstances. Therefore, he hopes that volunteer groups and philanthropists will continue to share and help the disadvantaged and the less fortunate in society; At the same time, spread more strongly the good deeds so that volunteer activities become more and more effective.
He hopes that all levels, sectors, agencies and units will continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for volunteer groups and philanthropists to have more opportunities to organize activities to share love and help the poor, the disadvantaged and the less fortunate in society.



On this occasion, the People's Committee of Nghe An province awarded Certificates of Merit to 13 collectives and 15 individuals, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 34 collectives and 59 individuals who have made many contributions to social security work in the province./.
