Nearly 400 prisoners of Prison No. 6 were granted amnesty.

(Baonghean.vn)- On August 31, Prison No. 6 of the Ministry of Public Security held a special amnesty ceremony for nearly 400 prisoners.

Attending the amnesty ceremony were Lieutenant General Ho Thanh Dinh, Deputy Director of General Department 8 (Ministry of Public Security), representatives of law enforcement agencies and leaders of Nghe An province.

Prison No. 6 of the Ministry of Public Security, located in Thanh Chuong district, consists of 4 sub-camps, with nearly 4,000 prisoners. Every year, about 1,500 prisoners are transferred to and from Camp 6. The number of prisoners who have completed their prison terms ranges from 150 to 170. The number of prisoners eligible for amnesty ranges from 600 to 700 people each year. This year's amnesty on the occasion of National Day, September 2, has nearly 400 prisoners.

Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoan, Warden of Prison No. 6, said that in order to prepare for the amnesty to take place in accordance with the law and procedures, immediately after the President's Decision 1366 on amnesty, Instruction No. 91 and Plan No. 174 of the Ministry of Public Security on the implementation of the amnesty plan on the occasion of National Day, September 2, 2015, the Prison leadership deployed the prisoner groups and teams to organize meetings and vote to select prisoners who meet the criteria for amnesty.

To best serve the amnesty work, the unit has mobilized 100% of its officers and soldiers to work day and night. To avoid errors, ensure quality and progress, the unit also coordinates with professional teams and related units of Nghe An Provincial Police to complete procedures for prisoners before and after they receive the amnesty decision from the President.
