Nearly 80,000 workers went to work abroad in 8 months
According to the latest figures from the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), in the first 8 months, the total number of Vietnamese workers working abroad was 79,778 (24,649 female workers), reaching 83.98% of the 2015 plan and increasing by 8.21% over the same period last year. Thus, the goal of sending 90,000 workers to work abroad has almost been achieved.

In August alone, according to data reported by businesses, the total number of workers going to work abroad was 11,255 (3,590 female workers). Taiwan (China) was still the market receiving the most workers with 6,455 workers, followed by Japan with 2,222 workers, South Korea with 1,036 workers, Malaysia with 809 workers, Saudi Arabia with 172 workers, Macau (China) with 45 workers and other markets.
In recent years, Taiwan has continuously been the market that receives the most Vietnamese workers and has just "opened up" to receive Vietnamese workers again in two professions: nearshore fishing boat crew and home care workers (taking care of the elderly and sick at home).
In August, the Overseas Labor Administration selected 47 enterprises to participate in the pilot program of providing domestic caregivers and 14 enterprises to provide nearshore fishing crew members to work in Taiwan. Up to now, the Labor Administration is still receiving and processing the applications of enterprises requesting to be introduced to Taiwan for permission to participate in the pilot program of providing domestic caregivers and nearshore fishing crew members.
According to the Overseas Labor Administration, businesses sending workers to work in the Taiwanese market must meet requirements regarding facilities and training time. In particular, businesses must ensure that they are not subject to administrative penalties for sending workers to work abroad, and that there are no serious incidents that arise over a long period of time, directly affecting the rights of many workers.
Also in August, the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding on recruitment and employment with Thailand and Malaysia to complete the legal framework for sending workers to work in these two markets.
