Meet the scientists
(Baonghean) -Recognizing the great contributions of intellectuals and scientists to the socio-economic development of the province in recent times, this afternoon (May 18), the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting to honor scientific staff.
More than 50 scientists from the province attended. Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province chaired the meeting.
At the meeting with scientists, representatives of the Department of Science and Technology reported on some outstanding results of science and technology activities in 2010 and the first months of 2011. With the active participation of scientists in the area, over the past year, all areas of social life have made significant progress. Science and technology topics and projects have solved many urgent problems of the locality and have been applied effectively in most areas and social life, contributing to the continuous development of the province's socio-economic development.
In 2010, 30 topics and projects under 9 provincial-level science and technology programs and 2 ministerial-level projects were implemented and achieved good results. In particular, in the field of agriculture, scientific topics have built over 150 models bringing high productivity and efficiency to farmers. Science and technology applications have also been implemented and achieved results in the fields of information technology, social sciences and humanities, environmental resources, etc. Many scientists are interested in science and technology innovation activities. As a result, in 2010, 19 projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, education and training, health, social sciences and humanities were commended by the Provincial People's Committee.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Duc Phoc highly appreciated the great contributions of scientists to the socio-economic development of the province; at the same time, he accepted the opinions, thoughts and aspirations of the intellectuals so that the province could have appropriate policies and mechanisms to attract and develop a strong scientific and technological team in terms of quantity and quality, with enough capacity to advise the Party committees and authorities at all levels and sectors in planning, planning, plans and policies for the development of science and technology to serve the socio-economic development of the province.
