(Baonghean.vn) - In the exciting atmosphere of the historic May days, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, on the morning of May 4, the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized a meeting and presented gifts to war veterans and former Youth Volunteers who participated in the resistance war against the French.
Attending the event were comrades: Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with 102 war veterans and former Youth Volunteers who have made many contributions to the cause of national construction and defense.

The meeting was an opportunity to review the revolutionary tradition and the spirit of determination to fight and win of our army and people in the sacred resistance war against French colonialism. The peak of which was the Dien Bien Phu victory, which was famous in 5 continents and shook the world. This was also an opportunity to pay tribute and honor the great contributions of the previous generations who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people. 60 years have passed since May 7, 1954, but the historic Dien Bien Phu victory and the great values it brought will always remain with the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the current period. Thereby affirming the belief in the path that the Party and Uncle Ho have chosen.

At the meeting, many war veterans and former Youth Volunteers recounted extremely touching stories and memories during the years when the whole nation went to war. Those are unforgettable memories in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council sent his regards and best wishes to the war veterans, former Youth Volunteers and their families. He also expressed his deep gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of the heroes and martyrs for the sacred land of the nation. Comrade Tran Hong Chau affirmed that during the 9 years of resistance against French colonialism, Nghe An province was a strategic area, the province mobilized tens of thousands of young people to join the army, 15,000 militia and guerrillas, more than 1 million laborers and youth volunteers to serve the resistance. Nghe An provided the resistance with 100,000 tons of food. In the Dien Bien Phu campaign alone, the province mobilized more than 60,000 laborers to participate in the campaign. After 9 years of resistance, many cadres and soldiers from Nghe An have become symbols of revolutionary heroism, such as Cu Chinh Lan, Tran Can, Nguyen Quoc Tri, Phan Tu, Dang Dinh Ho... In the current period, generations of war veterans and former youth volunteers continue to be shining examples, leading in all local socio-economic development movements, and are a solid spiritual support for the Party Committee and people of Nghe An province to overcome challenges and achieve success.
