Meeting to honor retired cadres of Nghe An Irrigation sector

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 10, the Liaison Committee of Nghe An Irrigation Retirees in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a meeting to honor officials of the Irrigation sector on the occasion of the traditional day of the Vietnamese Irrigation sector.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, and 150 officials of the Nghe An Irrigation sector through the periods. After 72 years of construction and development, from the initial starting point of only a few rudimentary irrigation works, people's production depended on rainwater, up to now the province's irrigation system is relatively complete, spread across districts, cities and towns with 2 large irrigation systems in the North and South, 648 large and small dams, over 500 electric pumping stations, ensuring irrigation for over 220 thousand hectares of rice for rice production, thousands of hectares of aquaculture, industrial crops, fruit trees as well as ensuring clean water for rural areas.

Many large projects have contributed to proactively responding to climate change, ensuring food security, and forming many specialized areas with high commodity value in the area.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh affirmed the importance of the Irrigation sector to the province's agriculture; generations of cadres and workers in the sector over the past decades have been determined, overcome difficulties, creatively, and overcome difficulties to create today's achievements, contributing to ensuring production and people's lives.

The Provincial Party Secretary wished the cadres of the Nghe An Irrigation sector good health and continued contribution of effort and intelligence to help the sector achieve better results. At the same time, he hoped that the young generation of the Irrigation sector today would inherit and promote the pioneering and creative spirit of their predecessors to contribute more to the sector.

On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh presented gifts to retired cadres who have made many contributions to the province's Irrigation sector.
