Jealousy, slashed neighbor seriously injured

On September 15, Mr. Bui Dung Lam (born in 1975, residing in Tam Dai commune, Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam) was still being treated at Quang Nam General Hospital after being slashed by a neighbor.

Through discussion, Mr. Huynh Ben (born in 1927, residing in Dong Tay village, Tam Dai commune) said that on the afternoon of September 11, his family held a memorial service. Attending the memorial service that day, in addition to his family, were also neighbors. At around 3:30 p.m. the same day, because his gas stove was broken, he asked his neighbor, Mr. Bui Dung Lam (born in 1975), to come and fix it.

To thank the neighbors, Mr. Ben's family invited Mr. Lam to stay and drink a few bottles of beer. However, before he could drink a drop of beer, Mr. Lam was approached by another neighbor, Mr. Pham Tan Loi (born in 1968), who used a knife to slash his left hand.

Too panicked, Mr. Lam used his right hand to cover the wound and ran away. Because the funeral was not finished cleaning up, Mr. Lam tripped over a beer bottle and fell on the floor.

Seeing that, Mr. Loi ran over and continued to swing the knife at Mr. Lam's back, causing the victim to collapse on the spot, blood flowing all over the floor.

Seeing the fight, Mr. Huynh Thang (Mr. Ben's son) ran in to stop it but was slashed in the chest by Mr. Loi. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, both were taken to the Quang Nam General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Immediately after receiving the information, Phu Ninh District Police and Tam Dai Commune Police went to Mr. Ben's house to examine the scene and take initial statements.

During the discussion, Mr. Lam said that earlier, on the afternoon of September 10, he and Mr. Loi had a conflict with each other. The argument between Mr. Lam and Mr. Loi revolved around the story that both of them were acquainted with the same woman.

“Mr. Loi once called me to threaten me to give up my intention of flirting with that woman or he would hire gangsters to deal with me. However, I also told Mr. Loi that there was no such thing and it was all just a rumor. Moreover, I am a married man with a wife and children, so that could not happen. However, I do not understand why Mr. Loi thought of me like that and hated me so much that he attacked me,” Mr. Lam explained.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the authorities.
