Both coffee exchanges recorded their third consecutive weekly gain. The US Department of Agriculture (FAS) forecasts Brazil's coffee production in the 2024/25 crop at 66.4 million bags, down from 69.9 million bags previously, and inventories at just 1.2 million bags, down 26% from the previous year.
Conab, Brazil’s crop forecasting agency, also cut its 2023/24 production forecast from 58.8 million to 54.8 million bags. Drought and below-average rainfall in Brazil continue to hurt the crop, pushing up coffee prices.
The shortage of Robusta supply, combined with Vietnam's 11.6% decrease in October coffee exports, has contributed to pushing Robusta prices closer to the $5,000/ton mark.
At the end of the week, Robusta prices increased by more than 4%, Arabica increased by 2.16%, thanks to reports of low output from Brazil and slow supply from Vietnam to the market.
