(Baonghean.vn) -From the afternoon of October 16 to noon of October 17, Ho Thanh dam (Nam Kim - Nam Dan) had an incident, with the risk of dam failure.

Faced with the risk of dam failure, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Mr. Nguyen Van De, leaders of Nam Dan district promptly arrived, directed Nam Irrigation Company, Nam Dan Irrigation Enterprise, and people of Nam Kim commune to come to the rescue and reinforce the dam body. Militia forces and irrigation companies with more than 50 people mobilized excavators to be ready to scoop the spillway to prevent the risk of dam failure, and at the same time filled more than 300 sacks of soil in vulnerable areas. The commune chairman and the head of Nam Kim hamlet evacuated people downstream to a safe area before 8:00 p.m. on October 16.

Ms. Vuong Thi Ngan - a resident living next to the dam, worried: she has never seen such heavy rain as this year, the water from the spillway flows down violently, creating white foam, many people do not dare to cross the bridge for fear of being swept away. The water from the spillway causes high flooding in the village. By the afternoon of October 17, the dam has been stabilized, Nam Dan Irrigation Company still has people on duty to prevent incidents from happening because the upstream water is still rising.
