Pretending to be a police officer, asking for a place to stay, borrowing a motorbike and then disappearing
Impersonating a police officer, Pham Van Tung asked to stay, borrowed motorbikes, phones and 1 million VND from people and then appropriated their property.
On February 22, Chu Se District Police (Gia Lai) are detaining Pham Van Tung (born in 1983, residing in Ia Piar Commune, Phu Thien District) to investigate the act of impersonating a police officer and appropriating people's property.
According to initial information, on February 18, a subject (unknown identity and background) came to Mr. LGM's house in Tok Roh village, Ia Blang commune, Chu Se district. After greeting, this person claimed to be a police officer who was verifying a number of incidents related to security and order in the area and asked to stay.
After 2 days of staying here, on February 20, this subject borrowed from Mr. M. a Honda motorbike, a Redmi 10A mobile phone and 1 million VND, promising to return 1 hour later but then disappeared.
Waiting all day but still not seeing this person return, knowing he had been scammed, on the morning of February 21, Mr. M. reported the incident to the Ia Blang Commune Police.
Upon receiving the report, Ia Blang Commune Police asked for instructions from Chu Se District Police, and coordinated with the District Police's professional teams to verify and investigate the subject.
On February 21, the police identified Pham Van Tung as the perpetrator of the incident and arrested him along with the evidence. At the police station, Tung confessed to all his crimes.
