Gas prices increase the most since the beginning of the year

After increasing by only VND5,000 last month, today the price of this fuel suddenly increased by VND30,000 for a 12 kg cylinder. The retail price to consumers is VND378,000 per cylinder of this type.

"From today, Saigon Petro gas price will increase by 2,500 VND per kg, equivalent to 30,000 VND per 12 kg cylinder," said Mr. Do Trung Thanh, Deputy Head of Saigon Petro Gas Sales Department.

MT gas company also increased the price of 12 kg cylinders similarly, and 45 kg cylinders increased by 112,500 VND. Dai Viet Vinagas Energy Joint Stock Company confirmed that it will increase the price of fuel from today.

Mr. Le Phuc Dai, General Director of Vinagas, explained the reason for the sharp increase in gas prices this month because the world contract price (CP) increased by 87.5 USD per ton compared to last month, at 970 USD per ton.

The increase of 30,000 VND for a 12kg cylinder is the highest price increase since the beginning of the year. Accordingly, in January, gas prices decreased, and in mid-February they increased by 17,000 VND. In early March, they increased by 9,000 VND, and by the end of the month, this fuel increased by 14,000 VND due to a lack of supply from Dung Quat. In April, gas prices only increased by 5,000 VND.
